Description: Fun, Leadership Position Babysitting Kids Ages 8 Weeks to 13 Years! We are looking for energetic, positive and fun-loving individuals to provide supervision for our busy Child Supervision programs. The Downtown Berkeley YMCA provides babysitting services for our members’ children ages 8 weeks to 13 years. While their parents are exercising, our staff engage children in age appropriate activities and play. Ideal candidates should be caring, honest, respectful and responsible, and must love to work with children and families. Experience with customer service a plus. Duties and Responsibilities: -Assist with staff/volunteer supervision -Attend to the needs of all children and engage actively in appropriate games and activities. -Maintain a high level of communication between yourself, the parents and YMCA staff and program director. -Responsible for ensuring safety and cleanliness The Downtown Berkeley YMCA is a conveniently located by the Downtown Berkeley BART station and AC Transit bus stop. Starting salary begins at $10.75 and includes free membership at the Downtown Berkeley and Bay Area YMCA’s. Qualifications: Requirements: -Must be at least 18 years of age, or a high school graduate. -Previous experience in childcare or related field required. 6-12 Early Childhood Education credits preferred. -Certified in Community CPR and First Aid. -Ability to learn Child Watch computer program. -Physical fitness with the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, sit, stand, squat, and change positions quickly and frequently (i.e. from sitting to standing). -Attend all required safety training sessions, as well as staff meetings. -Provide first aid, and exercise sound judgment in calling for medical help. -Great communication skills. -Dependable and flexible team player. -A dynamic and lively personality.
