Description: The Berkeley Media Studies Group (BMSG) of the Public Health Institute is committed to helping public health professionals and community advocates engage the news media strategically to advance healthy public policies. Our research supports clients who work public health policy issues including violence prevention, nutrition and physical activity, tobacco control, reproductive health and other issues. BMSG is seeking a Work Study student to support our research team. The Work Study student’s responsibilities include: reading media coverage on public health issues, coding articles for content using an established coding instrument, entering article details into project database, and assisting with other program tasks as assigned. The position will range between 10-20 hours/week.
Qualifications: MPH candidate with experience in qualitative data and/or content analysis, media research, sharp analytical and professional skills, ability to learn quickly, and a strong attention to detail. Experience with File Maker Pro and the Apple OS preferred.
