Description: Academic Mentor Roosevelt Village Center/After-School Learning The Roosevelt Village Center (RVC) is a comprehensive community-school partnership dedicated to helping all Roosevelt Middle School students succeed in school and in life. The RVC provides after-school and summer learning, family support services, and parent leadership education. EBAYC seeks 16 passionate and skilled individuals to provide high-quality after-school academic support to Roosevelt Middle School students. Job Responsibilities 1. support a learning group of ten middle school students; 2. provide homework assistance and test preparation instruction; 3. facilitate career and college exploration discussions and activities; 4. provide educational enrichment such as sports, dance, games, and arts; 5. participate in monthly Parent Meetings; 6. Model high standards of personal discipline, effort, and perseverance. 7. participate in weekly staff development activities. Work Schedule & Compensation Dates of Service: August 24, 2009 to June 4, 2010 (37 weeks) Schedule: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, 2:30pm to 6:00pm (20 hours) Wednesday, 1:00pm to 7:00pm Salary: $14.00 to $17.00 per hour # of Positions: 16
Qualifications: Desired Qualifications 1. Strong knowledge base in mathematics (algebra, geometry) and/or English composition. 2. Demonstrated competency in leadership education instruction (via sports, performing arts, visual arts, media arts, debate, environmental science). 3. Demonstrated ability to motivate and engage middle school students to pursue and persist in their academic growth. 4. Has earned at least 48 undergraduate semester units.
